A new Japanese study suggests they actually decrease brain activity.
The study says the longer people play games , the less activity they have in the part of the brain controlling emotion and creativity.
And here's the scary bit in people who play between two and seven hours a day, the brain doesn't appear to bounce back even when they stop playing , at least in the short term.
A number of people in the study group tell researchers they get angry easily, can't concentrate, and have trouble interacting with
friends.
